Some questions for your installer
Are you a registered
installer?
Yes we are registered,
qualified, insured installers. RGII company registration number CO721. A Declaration of Conformance is
issued with each
installation .
Are you VAT
registered?
Yes we are VAT registered.
Are you an SEAI registered
contractor?
Yes we are registered for
grant work. Contractor number 12959. We are registered for heating control upgrades with high
efficiency gas and oil boilers. The solar hot water systems we install are also eligible for SEAI
grants.
What guarantee is with the boiler?
Most boilers have a 2 year warranty. Ideal, Glow Worm,
Viessman Ariston and Worcester Bosch have introduced 5 year manufacturer's guarantees. The Ideal
Vogue currently has a 10 year warranty. Sauter controls have a 5 year guarantee. These guarantees are
subject to flushing the system prior to fitting the new boiler, commissioning the boiler, inhibiting the
system and fitting the boiler in compliance with the manufacturer's instructions and IS813. The boiler also
requires an annual service. The installation details and service record must be entered in the log book that
comes with the boiler. We are accredited Worcester-Bosch installers.

What are magnetic filters?
Magnetic filters protect and maintain the efficiency of your
heating system and boiler. Heating systems comprise of different types of metals and plastics. Over time
corrosion will occur and this will manifest as sludge which will reduce the efficiency of your boiler and the
output of the radiators. As this sludge is mainly iron oxide it will attach to the filter maintaining your
heating system at optimum efficiency. Magnetic filters and inhibitors are now standard with all our
installations.
What is
flushing?
A Chemical is added to the
heating system and circulated for a minimum of 2 hours at normal operating temperature and then the system is
drained and refilled twice. Older systems need to be powerflushed with a powerflush pump. It is essential
that scale and sludge are removed before fitting a high efficiency boiler. We now powerflush all systems
prior to installing a new boiler. For 2011 we have added a powerful magnetic filter to rapidly
remove iron oxide from the old system.
What is commissioning?
Commissioning is the adjusting of the boiler for
efficient combustion of the gas. A gas analyser is required to take CO and CO2 content along with flue
gas temperature and combustion efficiency. The gas valve is then adjusted to the manufacturer's recommended
settings. The gas rate is also checked by timing the gas consumption at the meter.
What is
inhibitor?
Inhibitor is a chemical added
to the new system to prevent corrosion, the build up of scale and sludge. Scale or sludge will shorten the
life of the pump and heat exchanger as well as reducing the efficiency of the boiler
What is
IS813?
IS stands for Irish Standard
and 813 is the standard for domestic gas installations. When a new boiler is fitted items such as the gas
supply and electrical earthing need to be brought up to standard. Older gas supplies may have to be increased
in size so that the correct flow and pressure is achieved at the new boiler. A 10 sq. earth from the fuse
board to the gas supply is required and exposed metal pipework needs to be cross bonded. The Declaration of
Conformance is declaring that the installation meets the standards of IS813
Do you Service the boilers?
Yes we service all boilers that we install.
What about my old
boiler?
We take it away. All part of the
service.
